Job Title:      Systems Engineer– IT Integration Firm

Basic Purpose:  The purpose of this position is to provide direct client support for desk top and Server software installation, Server and desktop troubleshooting and Server and desktop repair in a business, corporate or government environment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  The most important duties and responsibilities of this position are as follows:

 

Provide Microsoft Server and Desktop Support:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software related issues with end user
  • Deployment of new machines
  • Install and configure OS (Windows 2000 and XP)
  • Install, configure and support application suites; Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Install security software on desktops and servers
  • Manage server and desktop antivirus systems
  • Assist in the corporate server backups and IT disaster recovery operations
  • Do daily and weekly backups
  • Support the VPN access (from the end user’s perspective)
  • Assist in the administration of Windows 2000 AD servers
  • Assist in other operation duties
  • Configure and develop Microsoft Sharepoint
  • SAN Installation Experience
  • Asset management (SW and HW)
  • Accurately document resolution of problem into the CRM system
  • Travel to Client site along with Phone support

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in IT or equivalent experience;  5 to 7 years of experience in networking and windows end user support
  • Experience in K-12 educational environment preferred

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Significant knowledge of system and network troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of Apple/Mac systems a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents (procedure manuals, operating/maintenance instructions)
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge and make routine decisions to resolve practical problems
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and professional manner
  • Ability to effectively manage time and set priorities
  • Self-motivated to provide outstanding end user support

 

Certifications, Licenses

  • Microsoft A+ and Network+ (required)
  • Microsoft MCSE, MCSA, MCP, MCITP (preferred)
